Do you still have two Pools?

Yes, we still have two pools – famously known as the Atlantic and the Pacific. At the moment, only the Atlantic pool is open. But we’re working hard behind the scenes to get the Pacific pool up and running.

Where can I park?

We have 30 minutes parking on streets around the Baths. You can find further information about parking options, along with information regarding public transport, cycling and walking options here.

Can I still swim at the Baths?

Yes, we have daily adult leisure swim times available; in the mornings, during the day, and on some evenings. You can find our adult leisure times here; we also have a printed schedule available from the office in the Reception Hall. Sessions are mainly 45-minute slots with some one- hour sessions available. Why not come along and enjoy a complimentary free swim. 

When were the Baths built?

The Baths were built in 1901. The architect was the acclaimed John Douglas, who designed over 500 buildings in Cheshire, North Wales, and Northwest England.

Are the cubicles still around the poolside?

Yes, our much-loved cubicles – a historical feature of our Baths – are still available poolside of the Atlantic.

Is the pool water cold?

No, the average temperature is a warm and comfortable 29° – the ideal temperature for children and adult swimmers.

Do you hire the pool out?

Yes, we do hire the pool out. We hire it out to schools, clubs, user groups and for ad-hoc bookings, like birthday parties. For further information see our pool hire page, or get in touch with our friendly team.

Do I have to pay for a membership?

We have a variety of payment options, to suit all lifestyles. You can pay per swim or take out a monthly or annual membership. If you are using the baths regularly, it is cheaper to join.

Do you have showers? 

Yes, our showers are on the Atlantic pool’s poolside.

How much do I need for the lockers?

We don’t have lockers. But you can leave your belongings in the cubicles or the communal changing rooms. Both are within the pool area.

Do you have lane swimming? 

Yes, we do have lane swimming. Adult leisure is split into three lanes: slow, medium, and fast. The slow lane is for more of a leisurely swim.

Do you offer adult swimming lessons? 

We offer 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 adult swimming lessons. Our swimming teachers are all Swim England qualified and have many years of experience. They can work with you in the water or on the poolside.    

How accessible is the pool?

We now have accessible walk-down steps, into the shallow end of the pool. The steps go all the way down to the pool floor, at a gentle gradient, with handrails on both sides. Check out our Accessibility page here.

Do you offer children’s swimming lessons?

What happens if I need to cancel?

You can cancel your booking on the My account/bookings page and may receive a refund as per our cancellation & refunds policy.
