Duty Supervisor / Lifeguard Vacancy – full or part time
Chester City Baths is looking to employ lifeguards/supervisors full-time or part-time. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone wishing to go into the leisure industry, who wants to join a small, friendly team, working in a welcoming environment.
The lifeguard/duty supervisor is responsible for the safe operation of the building. This important role requires you to demonstrate leadership and oversee all aspects of customer care, health and safety, and pool maintenance. To become a lifeguard, you must hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. If you’re interested in this opportunity and don’t currently have the required lifeguard qualification, we can provide the training you need to achieve it.
Key roles and responsibilities
As a Pool Lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of our users by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will be responsible for enforcing pool rules, monitoring swimmers and providing immediate assistance in the event of an accident or incident. Communication, observation and rescue skills are essential. A lifeguard plays a critical role in maintaining safety and helping our users to enjoy themselves.
This role involves:
- Leading and supporting the day to day running of the facility
- Full understanding of and compliance with Health and Safety procedures
- A working knowledge of procedures and working practises required for the baths to be fully operational
- Operating in accordance with the instructions of the detailed worked schedules
- Opening and locking up
- Lifeguarding
- Customer care
- Taking payments
- Pool duties
- Pool cleaning
- Water Testing
Required Qualities
- Training in emergency procedures including CPR and first aid
- You must be able to swim 100m on the front and back
- Be able to surface dive to the bottom of the pool
Qualifications and Experience (but not essential)
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
- Customer care experience – the role requires excellent customer service and a friendly, approachable attitude
Training
Full training will be given to each person.
To become a lifeguard, you must hold a National Pool lifeguard qualification. However, if you’re interested in this opportunity and don’t currently have the required qualification, we can provide the training you need.
Hours
The full-time role is for 35 – 37.5 hrs a week on an alternating shift pattern.
Or we have part-time and casual hours available, also working a shift pattern.
Working shifts may include some weekends and evenings.
